1998 ford escort sport 96K milles 2.0l sohc. Two different times now my car has jumped timing. The timing belt, tensioner and water pump are all intact and were replaced a year ago. My mechanic was able to reset the timing and did not see an obvious issue. The car ran great for about 10 miles and died again. Are there any common issues that can cause this?

You are talking about your timing belt jumping a tooth or two right? Was the timing belt tensioned correctly when it was installed? I believe ford has a procedure and a special spring that is installed to obtain that precise tension. Let us know.

I think. Not sure, but I think the part number for that spring is 6L277, and the bolt that goes with it is W700001-S309. Correct me if I'm wrong.
