1999 Ford Escort Will'nt start at times

Engine turns over but will not start at times plenty of fuel but engine will not kick in. After sitting awhile if you push and hold pedal to the floor it will start. Seems like engine is not getting fuel. When you turn the key you can hear the fuel pump click on. Used fuel injecter cleaner but does not help.

Check for fuel pressure. There should be a valve on the fuel rail for the injectors, a rough check is to turn the switch to on then depress the valve with something appropriate not to damage it. See how forceful is the pressure if its low your pump is weak if its high then its probably your spark let us know.

Change the spark plugs. After that change the oil and filter
