1999 Escort, Blower Not Working

1999 Escort, 135,000 miles 2.0L engine.

1) Something that had happened to me. After an oil change, car ran very rough, stalled once in a while. Also at high speed, car seemed to lurch. Found it to be a cracked PCV valve case.

2)When the heater, AC or defrost turned on, the fan does not work. Checked all of the fuses visably, next step?

JBredeson, saw your questions while I was researching a problem with my own Escort. Regarding your blower, check the plug on the blower housing under the dash on the passenger side of the car. I have had the plug disturbed by people hitting it with a foot causing the fan to not run. If it isn't that, check for power to the plug with a VOM. After that, if you have jumpers, try to power the fan motor directly to confirm if the motor is good or not.
