I have a 98 Ford Escort ZX2 great car 191843 miles, still has most original parts, amazing. It just started overheating at speeds of 45mph or greater. I replaced radiator, today fan comes on to cool engine, no problem. The car continues to react the same with temp gauge 3/4 to (h) as soon as I drop down to 40 mph, it cools off to normal per gauge, what else could this be, thermostat and water pump are original

Thank You

Try the thermostat and see what happens if it continues could be airlock in the system bleed it-

One way to test for a bad water pump is to squeeze the upper radiator hose when the engine is hot and idling. Careful, because the hose will be HOT! If you do not feel much coolant circulating through the hose when you rev the engine, the pump may be bad. The other cause might be a bad thermostat that is not opening properly (remove and inspect the thermostat), or a clogged radiator.
