I HAVE A 98 ESCORT ZX2, WHEN I AM DRIVING IT AS I AM ACCELERATING SOMETIMES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON FOR A SECOND OR 2 AND THEN THEN CAR JERKS LIKE IT IS JUMPING INTO GEAR. BUT THEN IT GOES AWAY AND THE CAR SEEMS TO DRIVE FINE. I HOOK UP A SCANNER UP TO IT AND NO CODES SHOW UP AT ALL NOT EVEN STORED INACTIVE CODES. COULD THIS BE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM OR MAYBE A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM?

HI there,

Thank you for the donation,

If the check light has been activated there should be a set fault code, some generic scanners wont all read every code, you may need to get a ford scanner read just to make sure, if that is clear I would be checking coils first, start here.
