Engine Cooling problem
1998 Ford Escort 4 cyl Manual 131, 00 miles

My radiatior cooling fan is broke. As long as I travel on the highway, and avoid stop and go traffic, will that keep the engine cool enough untill the fan is repaired?

Get the radiator fan repaired now. It is a lot cheaper than overheating. It will cost 15 times more to repair the engine than to repair your fan.

I do not suggest it but running on the highway will help cool it down but NOT on a stop and go traffic. DO NOT let your temperature gauge pass more than half/middle or something major might break down when it overheats. Major like new cylinder head or a new engine ($3000 repair, same price of your whole car).

(Temporary, This might work or not) If you turn ON the air con (low switch only), the radiator fan usually turns ON continously although not full blast. If it does not, then your radiator fan is really broken. Check the Cooling Fan 40 Amp fuse beside the air cleaner if it is okay.

Always check your Temp. Gauge. Middle or half is the normal temperature.
