1997 Ford Escort won't idle

My son was driving home from work and engine started missing and loosing power. Now car is very hard to start and won't idle? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Idle air control valve, or vacuum leak is possible.

I had the same problem out of my 98 escort and it turned out I needed a Idle Air Control Valve and I also changed my fuel filter. Works fine now. Hope this helps.
