Removal 1. Raise vehicle. Remove front wheel, brake caliper and rotor. Remove nut securing drive axle shaft to hub. Remove drive axle shaft from hub. Remove outer tie rod end at steering knuckle. 2. Remove nuts and bolts securing strut assembly to steering knuckle. Separate strut assembly from steering knuckle. Remove nut and bolt securing lower ball joint to steering knuckle. Disassembly & Reassembly 1. Remove oil seal from rear of hub/steering knuckle assembly. Using Bearing Pulling Attachment (D84L-1123-A) or bearing remover, position hub/steering knuckle assembly on a press. Press hub out of wheel bearing in steering knuckle. 2. Remove "E" clip that retains wheel bearing in steering knuckle. Position steering knuckle onto press. Using a bearing remover, press bearing out of steering knuckle. If removing dust shield, scribe mark on dust shield and steering knuckle. Using a chisel, remove dust shield. 3. To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure. If dust shield is being reused, ensure scribed marks on dust shield and steering knuckle are aligned. If dust shield is bent, cracked or damaged, replace dust shield. Installation To install, reverse removal procedure. Install new inner oil seal. Tighten all nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table.
