Hello, after replacing the spark plugs wires, plugs, coil pack and the ECM it is still only running on 2 cylinders. Does one have to havea new ECM flashed or is it plug and play?

How did you get from misfire to ECM? You need a lot more testing before coming to a conclusion like that. First confirm whether it's spark, fuel or compression causing the problem.

Thanks for the fast reponce. To answer your question, I took into my local reputable shop to have it looked at after replacing the plugs, wires and coil pack. The issue still contenued and it was them that informed me that it had to be the computer. So I replaced it as well but its still having the same issues. So I was curious if replacing a ECM required to be flashed or not on the '96 Ford Escort LX 1.9L automatics

Well, it appears they were wrong. Your going to have to do more, in depth diagnostics to find out what the problem is here. Yes, that PCM needs to be programed but that isn't your misfire issue. I think I would put the old one back in.

Its def. A spark issue, no spark in the middle two cylinders. After replacing plugs, wires and coil pack with new, what else does that leave besides the computer?

Wiring harness between the PCM and coil, crank sensor, coil shorting to ground on one of the cylinders. Plug wire.
