We had the battery checked and it's still good, when you put the battery cables on the terminals The car beeps and displays the check engine, and the radio works without the key being in the ignition
when you turn the key it does nothing doesn't even click it just turns and the car doesn't try and start
could it be an ignition switch problem?

please help me

I would be pretty suspecous of the switch based on the symptoms. I'm not aware of any particular test procedures for that.

I have a 95 Escort wagon, 1.9L, auto trans, that has the same problem. New Battery, cables and clamps are in like new condition. When key is turned, all the indicator lights come on, all the relays and motors under the dash click, buzz and whir the way they are supposed to. When the key is rotated to start, sometimes it starts just fine, other times nothing. It will do this several times in a row, then next time, it starts just fine and will continue to start fine until it decides to be contrary again. And, every time I've had it in the shop for this, it has behaved itself and refused to act up. VERY frustrating, to say the least.

Safety interlock problem? Or ignition switch problem?

See if it starts in nuetral.

Do the light dim when you have the key in the crank position, while it isn't starting? IF so, I would start leaning towards starter. You need to find where the current stops With a DVOM.
