1995 Ford Escort

I have a 95 escort 1.6si. After about 20 minutes driving the car loses ability to rev without kangarooing. Car doesnt cut out but will idle at 1500/2000 revs instead of its normal 1000. Turn the car off and restart it again and car revs fine for a bit
