1994 Escort starter won't turn over

I have a 1994 Ford Escort with a manual transmission. This car sat for about one year without being started. I recharged the battery and tried to start it with no success. The headlights work perfectly but nothing else electrical works.

Anyone have a suggestion on what the problem is or can someone email a schematic to me?

Pull the plugs, send some oil down each cylinder and try to turnn it over by hjand aabout a dozen times and let us know, may have built up rust on the cylinders from sitting
