Brake light

I have a 2004 ford escape 4x4 The brake light on the dash is on but only very dim I have checked the fluid level and the emergency brake is not on what can be causing this?

There are only three reasons this light come on either the fluid is low or the e brake is engaged or there is an imbalance in the system front to back. If the brakes seen to work alright then I would say you have a brake fluid level sensor that has gone out. Here is a guide to help you see whats going on.
