The van will start fine, and warm up, but maybe stalls during this time. Then it will run for 5 or 10 minutes on the road and then stall. It then sometimes starts again, or sometimes not. The mechanics at the shop said most likely the fuel pump. So I checked the fuel line coming into the carburator when it stalled and there seemed to be fuel there still, but maybe not enough? I took the air filter off, and then she seems to run fine. Is it worth changing the fuel pump to see?

How old is the carb?
Sometimes the accelerator pump diaphragm gets old, and leaks.
Install an MSD Blaster SS coil for a better spark.
Works with stock ignition box.
Use stainless lockwashers on coil screws for safety.
And you don't give compression figures, vacuum readings, etc.
Hmmnn.
