How can I tell when a freeze plug is bad on a 2000 ford crownvictoria with a v-8 engine. It starts but does not run at the full idel speed. What are the frist warning signs if any?

Youre asking about what? A freeze plug, an oil leak or idle problems? Freeze plugs an on the block. When they leak it's anti-freeze, not oil.
To test them use a pressure test gauge! As far as a low idle. Is it low all the time? When hot, Cold?
