I have a 1986 crown vic. 5.0 liter, 136,000 mi. Driving home from work 14 mi. Trip Temp. Was 38. Out side. Car has been ruining great, plugs, wires, cap& rotor, full filter are eight mo. Old. A half mi. From home, the car just quit ruining, pulled over and the car re-started, pulling into my drive the car quit again. I checked all the wire connections, nothing was lose. The car started back up and went ten feet and died again, and now it will not start. I checked the full filter, its not clogged, plenty of fuel coming out of the fuel pump. I ran the car low on gas twice, it now has 1/8 th of a tank full. The car turns over great, and has been ruining great up till now. When the car quit, it was like turning off the ignition switch. Any ideas? Thanks for any help you can give me, chuck.

To answer your question, no, I was not getting a spark. I changed out the coil, and that did not help. A friend suggested I change out the ignition module, thats on the side of the distributor, and thats what the problem was. The car starts and runs great again. Thank you guys very much, and I hope this helps other crown vic. Owners, chuck.
