Engine Performance problem
2000 Ford Contour 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

MY CAR SOUNDS LIKE IT WANTS TO STALL WHILE IN IDLE AND AT A STOP. AS SOON AS THE GAS IS TOUCHED THE CAR RUNS LIKE IT SHOULD, I WAS TOLD IT COULD BE MY VARIABLE CAM SENSOR BUT I'M HAVING TROUBLE FINDING ANYTHING ON A VARIABLE CAM SENSOR. WHAT SHOULD I BE LOOKING FOR?

The VCT Solenoid is located on the top of the motor and through the valve cover on the 2.0L models. I'm not sure what your engine size is but my mom's car is having the same trouble. It stalls at a low RPM but is fine as long as you hold the gas pedal. I don't even know where to get a VCT from for these cars as I have searched the parts stores and online. All I can do is hope that Ford can get them or find one in a junk yard. My mom's car is throwing a sensor code for it.
