1998 Ford Contour A/C evaporator core

I would like to know how to remove the A/C evaporator core on my 1998 Ford Contour.

SPECIAL TOOLS

REMOVAL

1.Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2.Remove the heater/evaporator core housing.

3.Separate the heater/air conditioning housing.

4.Separate the heater/air conditioning housing (cont).
1.Remove the screws at the front.
2.Remove the rubber seal.
3.Unscrew the evaporator nut.
*Unclip the vacuum hose.
*Disconnect the housing parts.

5.Remove the evaporator.

INSTALLATION
1.To install, reverse the removal procedure.
*Check the A/C system for normal operation.

NOTE:
*Replace all the O-rings and coat them with refrigerant oil.
*When installing a new evaporator, install the gaskets as they were on the old evaporator.
*When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
