1996 Ford Contour

My 1996 contour shifts out of overdrive to 3rd while driving 70 MPH only after about 45 minutes of driving, only when the outdoor air temperature is above 35 degrees. I'm wondering if its as simple as a speed sensor issue or a more major transmission issue.
The overdrive off ldashboard light has flashed on only one time this has happened. The transmission shop found nothing on thier diagnostic computer check.

Hi:
If the light has flashed, chances are it is a sensor. What you need to do is have the computer scanned for codes. That will help identify where the problem is coming from. Many nationally recognized parts stores will scan it for free, so there is no of pocket expense.
