I am replacing my Fuel pump and am wondering

I am replacing my Fuel pump and am wondering, other than putting in the new pump is there anything else I need to do to complete the part replacement.

Hello,

On these mechanical pumps there are not too many extra steps that you will have to take. Make sure the mounting surface is clean of the old gasket and does not have any damage. Also verify that the fuel lines are in good shape. They have a tendency to dry rot over time.
Make sure that the push rod is correctly installed. If the push rod slides out it can be installed with some grease to hold it in place as it gets installed.
