I have the car listed above 50th Anniversary Edition, and it takes flex fuel, but I have been using regular 87. Is this okay to do? I thought I read somewhere it was better for engine.

Hi,

Actually, what you are using is better in some ways. The flex-fuel can cause damage to other components over time such as the catalytic converter. Also, it has a lower economy rating. In some cases, you can expect up to a 25% decrease in fuel economy. So, even though you can get it for less money, you need more of it to equal the traditional 87 octane fuel you are using.

On the other hand, E-85 burns cleaner which benefits the environment. Also, it burns cooler, so it helps protect things as well.

Regardless, what you are using is fine. No need to worry.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
