Brand new to all of this. Just bought my first car which is a Modified Fiesta Zetec S from 2002-2008 and noticed there was some oil on the oil sump, I cleaned it off and followed upwards to where it began, and upon my knowledge I'm missing a bolt. I have no idea how or why, but if anyone could point me in the right direction to purchasing a new bolt as I haven't a clue what to type to find the correct one, then it would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,

Luke.

Hi,

Pic 2 is the intake manifold. I can not tell what I'm looking at in pic 1. I copied pic 1 and circled what I believe you are referring to. Can you tell me where on the engine I am looking? I put two question marks on two things I can identify. Oil filler cap? Maybe if you back away a bit from that spot, I can get a better feel for where we are looking.

Also, if the intake manifold is what is missing the bolt, that won't leak oil. Chances are it is coming down from the valve cover.

Let me know. I'll try my best to help.

Take care,

Joe

Hi Joe,

Yeah what you circled was the screw hole that I was talking about, I can't get a proper view of it but it seems like it's on the bottom of the inlet/take manifold. The oil does seem further to the left than the screw hole, so maybe it isn't related and could possibly be the valve cover. I've attached another image of the whole engine bay to examine what things are whilst circling the area I showed.

Thanks for the assistance on this!
Luke.

Luke, you are very welcome. If I can help, I will. As far as that bolt missing, if it is from the intake manifold, it should be replaced. If you look at the manifold, follow it around to see if there is a bolt missing, but based on your original pics, it doesn't appear to be for the manifold. Also, I honestly feel it is coming down from the valve cover.

That is where I would start. You can get some engine cleaner and clean all the oil off and then after driving it, see if you can see where it is starting from.

As far as the valve cover, it really isn't hard to replace. I'm not sure where you are located, but the Fiesta wasn't offered in the US in 2008, so I don't have the specifics in my manuals. However, here is a link that shows in general how to replace the valve cover gasket:

Let me know if that helps. Also, please feel free to let me know if there is something I can do to help you.

Take care,

Joe
