My water pump recently went out. So I had the fan clutch, water pump, and the thermostat replaced. Every since then my vehicle hasn’t been sounding the same. As I accelerate it made a loud roar sound as if it’s like a semi truck. It also had a lack of power and the temperature would go up. Had the new fan clutch removed and they said the fan clutch seized up. Replaced the new fan clutch with another it didn’t make the sound Until maybe 3 hours later it start again and the temperature start to go up at a red light. I’m not sure what’s causing the problem at this point. Could it be the water pump?

Hi,

Interestingly, the fan clutch should full engage when a certain temperature is reached under the hood. If the temperature is increasing and then you hear it getting louder, that sounds normal. Take a look through this link to get a better understanding.

So that leaves the overheating issue. What are the temperatures where you are located? Are you using the AC? How hot does the engine get when this happens? Is the coolant level full?

Let me know.

Joe

Hello, I live in Arizona so it get pretty hot here, I do use A/C. The temperature goes up to the temperature in this picture. When I come to a stop but only sometimes too not all the time. I notice still sometimes and I do mean sometimes not all the time the car makes a loud roar sound as I accelerate and when it makes that loud roar sound it also has a lack of power still and my gas goes quicker then normal and It never use to make that sound or lack of power. As far as the coolant level it’s normal it’s at the level it should be. And the car acts normal when the temperature goes up it doesn’t ever pass that mark it goes down as soon as I drive.

That is hotter than I would like to see even though it's not what is considered the "danger" zone. As far as the noise, would you describe it as a jet engine sound? Also, do you know if the thermostat was replaced when the pump was done?

Let me know.

Yeah it never use to get like that until I changed the fan clutch, water pump and thermostat. I changed all 3 the same day with all new parts. The sound it make is like a semi truck it’s just like a loud roar. I never heard a jet so I’m not sure if it sounds like a jet. It honestly sounds like the engine is having a hard time and it does have a lack of power I notice when it starts doing that my A/C also starts to feel warm.

I hate to ask this, but could you record the sound so I can hear it? I'm almost certain it is the fan you hear, but I don't want to mislead you. Also, I feel you should return the vehicle to the shop that replaced the pump and have them recheck their work. Something isn't adding up.

Let me know.
