Factory DVD Screen not working properly

Good afternoon. Having an issue with my rear screen. There must be a partial break in the yellow video wire that runs from the base through the pivot point of the screen. When driving the screen will move and the display will go black (never effects sound). Once I move the screen it will come back on. I have taken the assembly down but there are no screws to open the actual screen section and I don't want to force it and break it if it is not meant to pull apart.

Just to confirm, because I suspect you are correct, the DVD will work and then just blank out and if you move it slightly it will start working again?

If this is the case, then that is a connection issue. However, it may not be the power or ground wires (yellow wires) because then more than likely the sound would cut out. Even though the rear DVD is just a display, it looks like the audio is run through it.

What I would do is operate the screen while you have it loose and gently move the wires one at a time and see if any make the screen blink.

If they don't then the issue is going to be internal to the unit.

Take a look at the info below. I attached the wiring diagram and the possible causes for this issue.

Basically, it is pointing you to the display signal circuit.

You could also check the voltage and make sure it is not dropping out. However, this is not necessary because the wiggle test will most likely cause the issue to happen.

Please see the info attached and let us know what you find.

Thanks

Kenny. That is correct. The screen is on, and sound is played but when the screen is moved the picture will black out. This does not affect the sound as my sound is coming through an FM Channel on the radio. Not sure if there is another way to get sound with this system. I’ll do the wiggle test this weekend and let you know. Thank you.

So, I played around today and figured out there are four screws hidden behind black circle stickers that allow you to open the screen up. Wiggling the harness made the picture go crazy, black, back on, blue bar down one side. I opened up the harness as best as possible, but the ground wire was built into the silver part of the harness, and I didn’t want to damage it. I rotated the wires to where when the screen is almost closed the blue bar and black screen comes on and when it’s down it’s fine. Not an actual fix but a temporary fix for the kids.

Great find. Totally understand. Even if it is not a permanent fix, at least you know what it is because that is what bothers me more than the actual operation. Once I know what it is, it may still annoy me but at least it doesn't bug me because I can't figure it out.

Thanks for the update. I am sure this info will help someone else in the future.
