I’m going to look at a car to buy and the girl said she has a new starter, but does not know how to put it in or have anyone to do it for her. She has another car so she just wants to sell it now and not deal with it. So I’m looking to possibly fix on spot and drive home. Any recommendations or things you think I should be aware of or other things to check first? I have volt meter and know how to test the battery but not familiar with anything else. I’m a 2 year HVAC technician but been installer for years. Thank you in advance.

Good morning,

1 hour is the book time for this procedure. I attached the procedure below with some pictures.

I would be very leary about this car. You do not know anything about this car at all. You could install the starter and find out it is not the starter, the motor could be locked up.

I would look for a running car you can road test and see if there are any underlying issues.
