Car died and will not start, starter clicks

While driving in my car the stop light came on I stopped and switch the car off. I tried to start it again, but my engine will not crank and all I hear is the starter clicking. If I put it in gear and move the car it acts as if the engine is locked and does not want crank over. What could be the cause?

It sounds like the engine may of had a problem, can you use a breaker bar on the front of the engine dampner to see if the engine turns over?

The engin doesnt turn over all you hear are the starters solinnoid comes in not even the starter turns

Could it be that the starter has burn while engin starts and the starter has locked the flywheel

That could be, unbolt the starter and see if you can turn the engine over by hand, also remove the serpentine belt from the front of the engine to see if an accessory has locked up causing the engine to not turn over.
