Enginge starts, but cuts off after a few seconds

How do you reset a passlock on a 2000 GMC Sonoma? I have replaced the ignition housing and cylinder, but I cannot get it to stay running more than a few seconds. I have tried to turn the iginition in the "on" position for 10 minutes and start it immediately following and it will stay running a few seconds longer, but still stalls out. The tumbler was rekeyed to my original key, so I didn't think this would be a problem. Please help.
