My car had no problems beforehand, there were no check engine lights, strange noises, or smells. All of the electrical components were working as usual. After temperatures dropped it wouldn't start. It only makes the cranking noise as if it's about to start. The dashboard lights are on while it's trying to start. I changed the battery because the old one was badly corroded. The auto parts guy is recommending I change out the negative terminal then check if the starter, or alternator is having any issues. A friend of mine thinks it's an issue with the timing belt.

Hi,

If I could hear it cranking, I should be able to tell if it is a timing issue. If possible, record it cranking and upload it for me to hear.

If you can't do that, see if it will start using starting fluid. If it does and then stalls, we know there is an issue with the fuel system. If there is no change, I need you to check for spark.

Here is a link that explains how that is done:

Let me know what you find. Also, if I could hear it cranking, that would surely help.

Take care,

Joe

Thanks for the video, yep, the engine sounds like it is hurt. This car has a timing chain so no belt, I would do a compression test to make sure the engine compression is to blame, can I ask if the engine has been overheated? This guide can help confirm the issue:
