Can the engine from a 2004 Saab 9 - 3 turbo 2.0 ltr 4dr Sedan automatic transmission be used in a 2001 Saab 9=3 2.0 ltr convertible turbo automatic transmission.

No. They used a couple different versions of the 2.0 and the 2001 -2003 high pressure VIN K are interchangeable but the 2004 uses a different control system and some internal parts. The interchange doesn't give a breakdown on the parts but shows the 04 engine doesn't work in either version. Sorry
