Engine stops running while driving

In the morning the car starts well and idles and after a minute it turns off. When I try to start it again it does not and after a while it start and now with a pop out sound. And a black smoke is released from the exhaust.

This is applicable even if your check engine light is not on.

Most scanners are inexpensive to purchase, you can purchase one online from sites like Amazon.com
