The engine will just shut off at high rpm 5000 to 5500 rpm on half to full throttel accelration. It will restart in nutreual and usally when it restart the temp guage dosent work. If the car sits for 6 hours or more and I drive it again the temp guage works again. When the temp gauge stops working my cooloing fans run all the time. It is not throwing a chack engine light and is not storing any codes. All fluid levels are good battery and altonator are good have checked all powers and grounds. Have chacked the wiring harness for problems none found.I have checked the connections at the pcm no problems found there either. Some times when it stalls and I restart it if I give it more then 1/8 throttel the engine will ping horriable. But after 2 to 3 mins of driving it easy it wont ping anymore but temp gauge still isnt working intil the car sits for atleast 6 hours any ideas I am pulling my hair out!

Yes I have and I have replaced it with a oem one. Made no diffrence but like I said it only happens when the engine shuts off at high rpm and I have to put it in nuteaul and restart it.I am a trained automotive and disel technical and have checked all the usally suspect but have not found the cause of the problem yet.I have narrowed it down to crank sensor or pcm causing the stalling issue. Like I said unless the engine shuts off at high rpm the temp guage works fine. But I do not wont to throw exspensive parts at this car trying to gess at whats causing the problem

Did you find a solution for this? I have a 2007 grand prix base model. It started doing the same exact thing. Dies at 5k, temp sensor doesn't work for awhile. Please help if you can. Thanks.
