Car starts, runs smooth, idles well, then loses power under load.

Hello my name is Dave.

My first question is has the maintenance been kept up to date? I always recommend starting with the basics when having an issue with power or idle and having no other issues. The other question I have is do you have a check engine light on? If you have a check engine light on it would be greatly helpful if you could get us the code(s). If the check engine light isn't on we want to make sure it is functioning and this is easily tested by simply turning the key to run and see if the light comes on, it should. If it doesn't the bulb should be replaced however that won't prevent you from retrieving the codes if there are any. If you follow this link to our tutorial it will help you with getting your codes.

If you don't have any codes I would suggest replacing the basic serviceable items including spark plugs, fuel filter and air filter, these are inexpensive and will assure your engine is getting the three basic elements it needs to run properly; air, fuel and spark. I hope this has been helpful and if you have any further questions, especially if you have a check engine light and code please feel free to ask. Thank you for using 2CarPros.
