I spoke with you earlier about the overheating issue with my car. In the process of flushing the cooling system, I noticed through the grill that the shutters don't appear to be opening. The engine is at operating temperature, but they only appear to be slightly cracked. Any help on where to start looking will be helpful and appreciated.

Hi,

Basically, if the grill shutter fails, it should set a diagnostic code. Have you scanned the can-bus? CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, this will identify codes regardless of the module storing them.

Here is a link that explains how this is done:

In this case, you may be able to get away with a traditional scan tool because the shitter actuator should signal the PCM of issues. Once we get a code, we can focus on the specifics.

There is one thing I would like you to check. See if fuse 12 in the battery junction box is good and has power to and from it. Here is a link you may find helpful:

I have multiple diagnostics for the shutter, but I'm not sure which would help. If I send all of them, it will be completely overwhelming.

Let me know.

Joe
