Hello!

About a month and a half ago, I hit a pothole that caused me to have to replace the front strut spring assembly, and now I'm having an issue with a heater core hose popping off with too much pressure. We replaced the fitting thinking this would help fix the problem as it seemed like only the fitting was broken and replaced all the coolant and bled the air. After I got the car home and it cooled over night during the next morning, I was able to drive for about a mile or so give or take, before the engine started over heating again, I checked under the hood and the same heater core hose blew off but the fitting this time was undamaged. When this happens, I do see white smoke coming from under the hood and behind the vehicle but unsure if it is coming from the exhaust pipe or not as the smoke covers the whole back area. Could this be a head gasket issue?

Yes, this could be a head gasket issue but so could be the radiator cap being bad and not releasing pressure as it should, I would try a new radiator cap or have the one tested.

This guide can help:

This guide can help as well if the cap is okay:

Please go over these guides and get back to us.

So, we tried a new radiator cap however were unable to test it as now because we emptied the previous coolant again and refilled it and tried to purge it of air bubbles in the lines, however now the heater is no longer blowing heat when we tried this and no matter what we did, could not get the temp gauge to go down so it stayed near red the whole time, so now I'm at a loss, and when we were doing this no white smoke at all, so not sure if it is a head gasket or not as many signs could indicate this part.

Let us know.

Take care,
