Transmission will not go into gear

My truck will not engage. It will start up and when you change gears you can hear them and feel them but it will not go into drive or reverse or first or second gear.

Make sure the fluid is full, and that the shift lever is actually moving when you shift gears. If okay to both remove the pan and and make sure the filter is not clogged up with debris that has fallen off the clutch packs. If so, replace the filter, clean the pan, install a new gasket, and fill with new fluid and you may be able to restore the transmission some and get some more mileage out of it.
