During normal operation, my engine will intermittently shut down, as if the key was turned off. All instrument lights will illuminate and sometimes the engine will restart by itself. All connections/grounds are tight. Battery test shows 12v, alternator test shows 14.57v. What am I missing?

Hello,

Just to clarify, regardless of if you are driving or at a stop the engine will shut down?

One of the possibilities is a faulty crank position sensor. The crank sensor sends the engine rotation data to the ECM. Over time heat and vibrations from the engine can cause the sensor to lose calibration and that will trigger error data sent to the ECM. Which can cause the engine to shut down.

Is your check engine light illuminated? If so scanning and retrieving the code(s) can help with the diagnostics.

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
