Just to be clear, you had a no start before you cleaned the EGR or only after?

Also, what is the actual EGR fault code that you have?

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

A lot of times the EGR is not able to be cleaned and it actually damages it so we may have an issue with the EGR flooding the engine.

However, I would suggest we start with checking the code again and let us know what they are and then we can figure out what is causing that code and go from there.

Let me know what questions you have, and we can go from there. Thanks

Hi, thanks for replying. The car was starting fine but when cold it was going into like a limp mode. I had no power then I would have a burst of power and engine management light came on. After diagnostic check it came up EGR but mine is an electronic EGR valve. So was advised to clean it first and to see if that was the problem. After it was cleaned it wouldn’t start for a good hour. Eventually started and now engine management light has gone off? Confused, lol!

Okay. Just to clarify, after cleaning it would not start and now it is starting, and the light is not coming on any longer?

Is there still an issue and are these codes what are currently in there?

More than likely there was still cleaner in the EGR that took a little while to evaporate that was preventing it from starting.

However, can you get a little bit clearer picture of the codes because when I zoom in on it, it is blurry.

Yes, it wouldn’t start after been cleaned about an hour afterwards it started up. Engine management light stayed on for about 30 miles then went off. No lights or anything on dash anymore. Codes are 4afa...4011...40e9...4b81...4c9f.

Okay. So, if there are no lights and the vehicle is running properly then the cleaning may have taken care of it. These codes are most likely stored codes which just means the issue that caused them to come on is no longer present. These codes will eventually be cleared out of the memory, but they are not hurting anything by staying in there.

However, let me know if you still have an issue and if so, what is the vehicle doing even though the light has turned off?

Thanks
