Hi,
my nephew has the car listed above LT w/3.5l engine. I don't know if there's any importance in mentioning that this is a flex-fuel (E85) vehicle. Okay, so he had asked me if I would let him borrow my obdii scanner because he car had the check engine light on. He didn't tell me and I didn't ask him what codes showed up until after he asked for my scanner again. He said he got dtc code p0010 and so he looked up on YouTube for a video related to this issue on an 2007 impala and replaced bank 1 cam sensor. He said he studied the video and also found a link that showed instructions on how to replace a cam sensor, that lead to this site. So when he told me the part about finding instructions that came of this site, which he has never been on before, I didn't worry too much. Going back to the problem, he said he did what was shown in the instructions and when he was done installing it and connected the battery. He started the car and everything looked and sounded good. He even said it felt better and with a little more power and the check engine light was gone. He drove it some miles that day and let it sit that night. In the morning when he was heading to fill up the tank the check engine light came back on. I told him to take my scanner since I was a little busy and told him to tell me what codes showed up. It was the same code p0010. I've never worked on a vehicle with that code. So I was wondering if anyone can help me out or guide me in the direction toward fixing this problem with my nephews car. Would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,
Rob

Hi,

I attached the procedure for this code.

Basically this code is saying that the commanded position and the actual position of the actuator do not match. Normally it is a circuit issue. Short to ground, power, or an open.

Follow the testing through for this code and it should lead you to the issue. Let me know if you have questions or run into issues. Thanks

Hi,
I want to apologize for not getting back to you and thanking you. We never got the chance to put I place to procedure you provided us. The following morning the car was struck by a drunk driver in the middle of the night outside my nephews house where he parked it and totaled it. Luckily no one was seriously hurt so it was junked. So I want to thank you for taking the time to help us and again I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Appreciate your help.

Thank you,
Rob
