Since I bought the van about six months ago it has refused to start (fourth time now). When this happens it is completely out (not working), no lights no click from the ignition switch. Nothing. It's as if the battery is out of the truck. However, there is a new battery in it, also I tested it with a voltmeter and it's reading 12.4 volts. So no parasitic draw.
To get it started there is no rime or reason to it. First time I just kept trying it and it fired up. Second time I put a jump starter on it and it started after a few attempts. Third time tried to jump it but after many attempts it finally started. I checked the battery each time with a voltmeter and it was okay. I put the battery charger on it so I wouldn't pull the battery down with all of the starting attempts. I'm not sure but I'm wondering if this problem could possibly be associated the stock security system?

Hi,

If the factory immobilizer is at fault, the light should stay on or flash. If you have nothing as far as power, confirm the battery terminals are tight and clean. Also, follow the ground from the battery to the engine block and body to make sure there are no issues with damage or corrosion.

Next, I attached a pic below showing the ground locations. Check to make sure they are all good.

As far as no power (as if the battery is removed), when this happens, open the power distribution box under the hood and confirm there is power at the 125 amp mega fuse. (pic 2)
