1998 Dodge Van HELP Dodge Ram van won't start after flat ba

The same question as before but with new heading.
I had a flat battery on my ram van 1500, tried jumping it with no real luck then I charged it and still would not run, it cranks for 10 seconds then starts to die then I try again and same thing. The weird thing to me is that if I give it gas when cranking it will run until I lift of then dies. When it does run run like this it runs like crap, not clunky, but does smoke a little and just isn't right.
