Our van will turn over but not start. We pulled into gas station, turned it off, then it would not start again. Just tuned up, replaced rotor, cap, coil. Plugs are getting sparks. The carb is getting gas just fine. We unscrewed the hold down bolt for the distributer and adjusted it a little bit while trying to start it and it started up twice but died again. Do we need our timing adjusted? Or something else? And what is an estimate on the cost to fix at auto shop?
Thanks, Evan

5.9 L V8 B300. And I forgot to mention that it would take a while to start before all this happened. I would have to give it gas to even start.
Thanks

It could be retarded timing, weak sparks.
Check the timing and let me know

Midas said it was the starting module and replaced it, didn't start, then they said the pick-up coil in the distributer, did that and it turns out there getting spark fine. I'm thinking it could be the timing as well.?

I'm sorry you getting out of lot of money.
Sometime the vehicle can get spark but how strong is it? Bright? Or kind of yellow?
I also think it could be the timing.
Ask Middas to check timing with a timing light.

Let me know what happen.

Thank you

They can check it while you are there, it take only few minutes to check it with a timing light.
But if the timing is wrong, then ask them how much it will cost to set the timing.
Ask different shop and look for good deal.
