Engine Performance problem
2000 Dodge Stratus 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a dodge stratus v6 the problem is that when I am driving for a while the RPM goes down and my car stops but, starts again but I notice this happen only during the day time what could be the problem please I need some advice. Thanks

Has the check engine light come on? It sounds like a throttle position sensor (TPS) or idle air control valve (IAC). The only way to be sure if the check engine light is on, and you scan the computer.

This what happend with my car I just had to repaired the engine because the rpm goes down and the car sttoped very often and some valves were broken and they made a hole in one af the pistons after that I got an used oil pump from the yunk yard and I installed it but I didn't check it thinking it was good when I started the car it was sounding good but after several days started making a noise coming under the engine or carter that's why I'm thinking mybe the problem could be the oil pump

The pump could cause internal damage, but It shouldn't shut the engine off unless the engine locks due to a lack of oil.
