Have you taken a fuel sample? Has the catalytic convertor recently been replaced?

Haven't taken fuel sample but tank was almost empty and I added 5gallons of fresh gas with dry gas. Should be fine. Converter has not been replaced but we took the o2 senser out in front of it and started the engine, no difference in the way it ran, Ireally don't think the converter has started to plug.

Is the check engine light on? If so what trouble codes are setting. Only reason I am leaning towards the catalytic converter is because you say it smells like rotten eggs. Normally that smell is only present if the cat is clogged or the batteries dying.

Yes the check engine light is on. The only thing the scanner says is: MAF sensor not holding pressure or something to that effect. I, personaly it's what I was told. We changed the MAF sensor.
Oh I agree with you about the rotten egg smell but shouldn't the engine at least a little better when you give the exhaust another exit by taking the o2 sensor out? Also this all started all of a sudden. Itnot like it stared running a little rough and got progressively worse.

Took it to a garage and they found it jumped timing. They said they didn't really think it was bad enough so it bent a valve ( jumped either 4 degrees or 4 teeth I can't remember which they said ) but they wouldn't know for sure until they changed the belt
