I have a check engine light on, but I dont get any codes on diagnostic. The low oil light turns on occasionally but I know thats probably the sending unit, but could that be why the check engine light is on. Also the vehicle does not shift past 65 mph, it feels almost as if im pressing the brakes at that speed. Any ideas? Is there a way to do a diagnostic on the tcm?

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

What type of scanner are you using? Sometimes generic scanners just don't pick up all the codes, sometimes my not so cheap Snap On scanner also misses codes and I have to rely on factory scanners to fill in the gaps, you may need a factory scan done.

Its funny you say that, I tried with an obdii scanner I borrowed from a friend, I forget the brand but it ran him about $250, not the cheapest, but definitely not a snapon, I took it to a mechanic friend (snapon)and when he plugged it in, the scanner told him he needed to look for another harness/plug or adapter (if that means anything to you), we looked around and did not find anything. I was going to go to the dealer as a last resort if I could not find out anymore info on my own, which is rare.
