I own a 1998 dodge stratus and I love the car. I have many additions added on to it to enhance its appearence. I recently was told by my body shop that I have a leaking head gasget. I noticed a very distinct oil leak and have kept on top of the oil until the time when I can have it fixed for the estimated $1,000. When this is fixed will that take care of the leak entirely? I understand this is a common problem but I have not experienced the other problems other users have so I am going to spend the money to fix it.

It may not be a head gasket leak, it may be a valve cover leak, get yourself a second and third opinion if necessary, some of these places seem to try to rip people off, so for your own good, check other places too. You should find something cheaper too, if its a head gasket. Also dont go to a dealer, they like to find other things they can do that has nothing to do with the problem at hand. So be careful. Any other questions?
