Each camshaft sprocket has a mark(little pointer), as do their rear covers. The crankshaft sprocket has a small mark and the front cover(oil pump housing) has a mark also. With tension applied, all three should line up with their respective marks.
Good time to replace the water pump tensioner and spring. While apart. Ok Joe
