Hello, I am having trouble starting my 85 dodge ramcharger. It has a 318 motor. I can turn it but it wont fire up. I checked the main wire to the distributor cap and there is spark. I can smell fuel when I try to start it so Im thinking it may not be a fuel issue, Is there any other problem I could check in to? I am not a mechanic but I am not afraid to try, thanks

You got spark-Now check the fuel pressure if its within specs and check for injection pulses.

Check fuel pressure, check distributor for spark to plugs, and check plugs. Also, check to see if distributor cap is damaged, as that can cause similar issues. What is the condition of the battery? If it is an older battery, it may not have the power to properly start the vehicle. There are alot of things that can cause this issue, but we have to narrow things down to be able to pinpoint the problem.
