I HAVE A 2002 DODGE NEON AND LATELY IT'S BEEN OVER HEATING. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MERCHANIC AND HE SAID THAT I HAVE A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. HE ALSO SAID THAT REPLACING A HEAD GASKET DOESN'T WORK FOR LONG AND ADVISE ME TO GET A NEW MOTOR. HE SAID THAT GETTING THE HEAD GASKET REPLACED AND REPLACING THE MOTOR IS VERY CLOSE IN PRICE WHICH IS ABOUT 1700. I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY RIGHT NOW, I NEED TO KNOW HOW LONG CAN I DRIVE THE CAR WITH A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. IT'S DRIVING FINE AND I PUT WATER IN IT ONE TIME AND IT NO LONGER OVER HEATS. SHOULD I GET A SECOND OPINION?

Second opinions are ok, but a head gasket install should be no where close to the cost of a new engine, if you had the time and resources you could do it your self in a day or 2, it is kind of hard, but get a manual for it and torque wrench and use your brain, I did mine in two days
