2003 Dodge Neon Red Oil light flashing on when idling

My oil light started flashing today while stopped at a light. I pulled over and checked the oil it was a quart low. I put oil in but it kept flashing only while sitting at a light. At one point my gauges (fuel lvl, engine temp.) All dropped to zero and went back up. If I put the car in park with engine running it will not come on. It also doesn't come on while I'm driving. Where should I be looking for the promblem?

i had an old toyo 78 truck. Oil guage mechanical.
My oil pressure would stay good until oil got hot, then would start dropping. After the oil was hot, the slower the engine was running, the lower the oil pressure would go, until there was eventually nothing.

I assembled the entire engine from bearings up. Eventually this engine caught me out on the highway and turned the main bearings for lack of oil.

Still don't know what caused it. Maybe crack in block?

If it is obviously an electrical problem- gauge drops straight to 0 then jumps back up, great! :) Loose connection somewhere?
