My wife has a 2002 dodge neon. Drove it today it has a high pitch squeal near the front of the engine. Pitch gets louder with more rpm. Put new belts on after that did not change a thing. Wondering if you had any ideas. Thank you sc.

It may be a idler pulley bearing, either on the tensioner or just a stationary idler. It could also be the alternator. Try removing ALL the belts and start the engine. See if the noise is still there. If so, it has NOTHING to do with any accessories. Then start looking at the timing belt components. There are idler pulleys and tensioners, etc in there too. Start there.
